The digital mobile realm is connecting with a previous mobile realm; the auto. An iPhone can now help you to start your car on one of those upcoming cold Winter mornings. The tool that you will be able to use to start is the iPhone and its new Siri digital assistant. Read on to see how to start your car with an iPhone.
Siri Is Now Your Auto Assistant
That little voice inside the iPhone 4S is now capable of managing your auto. The mixing of automotive and mobile technology has now given way to some cool uses. The iPhone 4S came out with the great little artificially intelligent Siri digital assistant with multiple abilities. Now someone has joined Siri with a popular car alarm system. The Viper Car Alarm system can now talk back and forth with an iPhone and the iPhone can talk back and forth with a human. The results are nifty.
What Can Siri Do With A Car?
The iPhone can be boiled down to a computer that also makes telephone calls. This digital empowerment is a quick clearance for this hand-held machine to interact with its surroundings. Now that the iPhone 4S can take voice commands with ease, it is a natural thing to want to control a car with your voice. Starting the car is just the beginning. The Siri assistant can also pop the trunk, turn the car off, lock the doors, engage the security system and start the “vehicle panic” mode. All this is done by giving a command such as, “Vehicle start.”. The digital assistant responds with, “One moment while I connect to your vehicle.”. Other commands are just as simple.
Another Programming Job Offered For Free
The one who created this interface for Siri and a car is of course a programmer. Brandon Fiquett is his name and he is responsible for hacking the Siri program to make it work with the Viper Car Alarm system. It is not quite as good as the “Knight Rider” series yet, but could be fast. The script that Fiquett wrote is in the web programming language called PHP. The plugin he created with PHP runs on his own web server. The Siri service also runs on the web servers at Apple, so much of this work is done in the cloud. Fiquett makes the script available on github, a site where many programmers work and make their wares available.
Starting Cars Is Just The Beginning
The Silver Acura owned by Brandon Fiquett is just the beginning. The code he created can be used with Cadillacs, Fords or whatever a programmer wants to hook it up with. Look for more car controls using Siri in the near future.

Look at how we began our television experience! It was with a small seven to nine-inch television set complete with two huge rabbit ears (antenna) that had to be twisted and turned up and down, round and round, until there was somewhat of a picture showing on the screen, usually accompanied with snow. This was transferred through air waves that the antenna picked up to transmit sound and pictures to your television set. We thought this was rocket science!
And then there was cable. We were proud to display that little black box that was on top of our set. Because with that box and the wires that were connected to it as well as to the nearest cable station, we were able to pick and choose different options, and wow….even rocket science wasn’t this good!
But once again technology stuck its awesome head through the door and transformed the way we received news and entertainment. Where once upon a time, radio challenged the newspapers and television challenged radio; it now seemed that our old friend, traditional television, had competition all on its own. It’s called Internet TV.
Because Internet TV is somewhat novel, quality, content and cost can contrast significantly. Some shows may seem totally high-quality and other may seem as if they were broadcast from a basement theatre. However, networks are beginning to ease into the technology of trying out different formats.
This whole method of Internet television starts with the transformation of videos into a design for online transmission.
It’s surely to be the new wave of the future because it is so versatile. Internet television can be used on a varied array of devices in addition to your traditional television. You have the control of what you watch, and when and how you watch.
Internet TV is possible as it involves a process of converting videos into a suitable format for online transmission. This process is completed via a procedure identified as encoding, which utlizes software constituents called codecs. The resulting digital files can easily be fragmented into packets of data that can be transmitted over the Internet.
Next, the user’s computer can display whatever program they want to watch. During the program and depending on the kind of Internet TV being looked at, optional controls may be accessible, such as fast forward and rewind.
Internet TV is a widely held sensation among the many enthusiasts of television shows. It definitely modernizes the way people watch shows because rather than get ‘boxed’ in to one chair in one room to see the shows they are anxious to see, they can watch them online anywhere, anytime. It is a special treat to watch shows that have been missed, because instead of having to sit in front of a TV on a specified date and time, shows can be watched online, anytime.
So what was once rocket science; isn’t rocket science anymore. One must only wonder…what will they come up with next?

Recently, when a divorced lady who is “on the wrong side of 50 and has a house full of teenage kids” started to publish her experience of becoming single for the first time in over a decade, she began her first blog post with an extraordinary statement “I’m in some kind of relationship no man’s land,” destined to remain alone and single from here on in, for the remainder of my life.
She writes “I feel like a plankton (The gathering of tiny or incredibly small microorganisms, such as algae along with protozoans, which wander or drift in great quantities in fresh or salt water) within the food chain of sexuality who has been tossed aside in the name of vanity and materialism.
The woman, whose identity was never revealed, called her blog The Plankton. The anonymous blogger believes the symptoms of being single, female and middle aged are rife throughout the world and claims there is proof that women have a much shorter shelf life than men. To back-up the claims from The Plankton blog, a survey has revealed that 80% of women aged over 50 consider themselves to be invisible to men.
When it comes to life, love and friendship for a 40 or 50 something single woman, the outlook is faced with its own set of sorrows and complications.
According to relationships expert and well known agony aunt, Susan Callas, “many middle aged women are suffering considerably. When it comes to online dating sites, the men virtually have the selection of the entire age range, younger and older. Men are also less likely to go on a second or third date if sparks don’t fly on the first date. Sadly, if she doesn’t fit his criteria, she doesn’t stand a chance, particularly in middle age.”
The writer of The Plankton blog wraps up the emotional roller coaster following her recent divorce in a dreary manner “Although I still have my health, and there’s every chance I’ll live until I’m in my 90′s, a death of sorts is already upon me, for I am already in the wilderness, facing the prospect of 40 + lonely years.”
And the ramifications don’t end there. Even getting invited to dinner parties see’s this wilderness extended to everyday social scenarios as couples tend to socialize with other couples who have more in common such as family and parenting. For the average single middle aged woman, many think their world has shrunk.
The concept of online dating simply does not work well with women of middle age. The sheer availability of younger women see’s middle aged ladies isolated and over-looked. The online dating concept encourages men to cherry-pick their most suited (often younger) woman.
Research throughout many nations and cultures show consistent patterns of men opting for younger partners. A bleak outlook for single women in middle age. Other factors for single middle aged women to contend with is that during married life, pre-divorce, their husband was the main bread winner and her the stay at home mum thus leaving little options for middle aged women to gain fulfilling employment jobs in a corporate type of environment. Many single middle aged women are stuck working in more isolated conditions with few social opportunities such as bakeries or grocery stores.
Cathy Wardell, a well-known social analyst offered us some feedback to encourage this group of women to move on with their lives, “There are definitely some huge rewards for staying single. Single and/or childless females have proven to be extremely successful in launching new careers in small business or as a very loyal assistant for the company they work for. If you’re feeling shut out from the world, you’d be wise to re-direct your energies into something to boast your own confidence, it’s time to re-invent yourself.”
So if you’re 40 or 50 something, female, and single, just forget about men for now and transform yourself into a confident and sassy bachelorette. Men can’t resist a woman in power!
